Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts is the area's umbrella arts agency. We serve as an advocate for artists working in all the disciplines and a clearing house for information on all aspects of the arts. We promote theater, music and dance performances as well as an exhibition series based in the Lebanon Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College.

Maija Miettinen

Maija Miettinen was born in Helsinki Finland in 1979. She grew up being exposed by her parents to literature, the performing arts as well as the visual arts. As a child she first wanted to become an author, then an actor. During High School she attended the Performing arts school where she took wide variety of art classes. After the graduation she applied to a theatre school where she was accepted but she realized that she would rather observe than be observed. She also felt that in order to be an artist she would need to experience life. Following a few years she spent traveling all over the world including several months in Nepal and India returned to Finland and she spent a year in Helsinki Christian College completing a Visual Communications Training Program. She also worked for the KIASMA Contemporary Art Museum in Helsinki as a photographer. At this point she knew that conceptual art and especially painting was the direction she wanted to take. She attended Norwich School of Art and Design in Norwich England for a year and received a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design. After meeting her American husband Mark she moved to Pennsylvania and attended Temple University; Tyler School of Art where she earned a BFA in painting. Currently Maija lives in Annville PA.
