Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts is the area's umbrella arts agency. We serve as an advocate for artists working in all the disciplines and a clearing house for information on all aspects of the arts. We promote theater, music and dance performances as well as an exhibition series based in the Lebanon Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College.

Our long term aim is to provide the arts in the Lebanon Valley with a home where rehearsal, performance, educational and exhibition facilities will be housed

Shauna Yorty

Shauna Yorty graduated in 1997 from Lebanon High School and was granted a Certificate of Proficiency in Entrepreneurship from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2005.  She has received many honors for her works and skills, including Scholastic Art Awards Silver Keys in 1995, Second and Third Places and Best of Show at the Lebanon High School Art Show in 1996 and 1997, Outstanding Entrepreneurial Student Award from HACC in 2004, and First Place at the Community of Lebanon Association 2nd Annual Chalk Drawing Contest in 2004.  She has also been on the Dean's List several times.

Her work has recently been shown at the Art is Freedom Gallery at Checkered Past in Lemoyne, Pa.

Shauna enjoys working with many media including acrylic, oil, pencil, crayon, pen, and photography.  Constantly yearning to learn more techniques and styles, she creates numerous types of work from portraits to jewelry to wall and room murals to tattoo designs and more.

The minimal amount of art exposure and instruction young children in our community receive is unacceptable, according to her. She plans to open an art center and gallery for children here in Lebanon in hopes of giving them an expressive outlet through creativity.

Shauna is currently enrolled at HACC, and is working toward her BA in Art Education.

"When you open your eyes do you see it? I do. I see it. I see art everywhere." Shauna L. Yorty
